Benjamin volunteered with the Cinco de Mayo Committee in 2011, organizing the annual Jalapeno eating contest on West Side-Saint Paul, MN. The Cinco de Mayo Celebration is a community gathering that has been a strong part of the West Side of Saint Paul for many years. Benjamin has been involved in various Cinco de Mayo Festivals over the years as a volunteer and committee member. Engaging in volunteer work locally and internationally, Benjamin currently serves as the board president of Peace and Hope International/Paz y Esperanza Internacional, is the active Sergeant at Arms with the Bloomington Rotary Club, and serves the YMCA as the part-time staff Caretaker at Camp Kici Yapi.

Over the years Krystell has been engaged in various volunteer commitments in the Twin Cities non-profit community including the Cinco de Mayo committee, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, and most recently serves as the Board Chair of the Chicano Latino Affairs Council of State of Minnesota.
